Based on the findings of 2003-04 assessment cycle, the undergraduate committee was charged to study the feasibility of offering a required introductory course to give students a broad overview of Computer Science and Information Technology. Additionally, during 2004-05 assessment cycle, we identified the need to institute a senior year project course (capstone) in order to improve our students' training in System Development and to be able to directly measure the students learning at the program level. Both the introductory course and the senior capstone course was discussed and approved by the undergraduate committee and forwarded to the faculty for their consideration last Spring. Theses items, however, are still pending because the faculty chose to discuss the reorganization matters during the faculty meeting that was scheduled for considering these and other curriculum matters. We need to consider these items early this Fall semester. I ask that the curriculum committee complete this task by October 28.
